ROUTES & TRAILS
This Trail Pass allows access to the following properties:
- MTO – Kruisfontein Forest
- MTO – Buffelsnek Forest
- MTO – Keurbooms Forest
- Cairnbrogie Dairy Farm (Coastal route only)
- Smith Family Property
- Protea Wilds Retreat
MTO Forests – Once you have been issued with your Trail Board your details will be added to the MTO Broadcast SMS system for direct communications regarding restrictions as follows:
- Harvesting activities – Alternative routes must be used to avoid those areas. The MTO forests are divided into “Blocks” (download the MTO block map) and these blocks will be used to reference no entry areas of the forest.
- High fire index danger days – On these days riders must avoid the forests altogether. Forest Managers should only be contacted if the rider sees fire, damage, illegal dumping, unauthorized personnel etc in the forest.

Cairnbrogie Dairy Farm – Access to the Coastal Route only (See available routes and download the GPX file to your GPS device). If you wish to use the “Pump Track” or internal trails, visit www.cairnbrogie.co.za. The main gate access code will be changed regularly, but you can get the current access code from The Bike Shop – Plettenberg Bay (044 533 1111).
Note: Cairnbrogie is a working farm and therefore you need to be aware of the movement of livestock and farm equipment.
Plett Game Reserve – If you drive to the start of any ride from the Plett Game Reserve, park your vehicle just inside the gate on the right side of the road.
Protea Wilds Retreat – This is a functioning farm be aware of traffic. Cottages are available to rent on this property…see the Partners section on the website.
SAN Parks – Due to the fact that SAN Parks property is adjacent to MTO, a SAN Parks Daily permit or Annual MTB tag are requirements to ride most of the suggested routes. These are available at the SAN Parks offices on Thesen Island or Garden of Eden.
